Bink & Tyler found me on social media. They were coming from Virginia and wanted a photographer who was in love with the Rocky Mountains as much as them. They visit Rocky Mountain National Park often. Before their wedding day I spent a day scouting new spots that I could take them to for their couple photos… which is how we started the day.
We met at their Air BnB near the Fall River entrance of RMNP and headed into the park to create their vision of “Scottish Highlands Meets the Rockies”. The couple are both of Scottish heritage and had ordered traditional Scottish kilts with their family tartans from Lochcarron of Scotland. They said that they had special ordered them and it took a bit of time to get to them, but you will see that it was worth the wait!
For their wedding they had everyone add tartan to something in their ensemble, which gave a consistent look throughout their wedding. Whether it was a purse, a scarf, hat (my choice), dress or shoes it was delightful to see what everyone added to their outfits. The rustic look of Black Canyon Inn, Homestead was perfect for their tartan sprinkled wedding.
While everyone was waiting for the couple to come down the aisle a string trio was playing popular songs under the pavilion. For the procession they played “Pink Pony Club” and the guests recognized the song and began singing along whole-heartedly. By the time the grooms reached the altar it was a full sing-along with the grooms dancing and encouraging their guests to sing louder.
That was just the beginning of a ceremony that I won’t forget. It was held during Pride Month and one of their guests read the Opinion of Justice Kennedy concerning Obergefell v. Hodges. I put a link in there if you would like to read it. I hadn’t heard his opinion, after this historical decision to allow same-sex marriage, but it had everyone in tears. Really poignant!
The officiant was one of my favorites, Reverend Scott Awbrey. He knows how to slow down the ceremony and give it the reverence it deserves. Once the ceremony was over the guests took to the beautiful lawn outside the historic cabin to enjoy the mountains and some libations.
The reception room was set by Sonora House Events. They were amazing at creating very unique flower arrangements and helping with planning as well. Really nice group to work with, highly recommend working with them.
Food was amazing (as usual) from Greens Point Catering. I found their cocktail hour offerings particularly delicious and unique at this wedding, as well as their dinner food.
The geode wedding cake from La Momo Maes was an art piece and also won over the grooms before they drank from the quaich together. This traditional Scottish cup has two handles representing the couple coming together, showing mutual trust, unity, and the blending of their two families.
After that it was time to dance, party and have a good time! I was so honored to be the photographer for this wedding. I loved the grooms, their kind and compassionate friends & family and the entire theme and feel of the wedding. It was one for the books!

Gretchen photographed our family during our family vacation in Fraser. She was very accommodating! I love the documentary photos that she took of us gathered in our airbnb and the group photos we took down the street with a beautiful mountain backdrop!! Gretchen shot our wedding in May, and also did some engagement shots for us in the previous fall. Wow. Gretchen did an INCREDIBLE job photographing my huge extended family in Estes Park. We had 5 little ones, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and parents. Somehow she was able to take the most beautiful pictures with everyone looking at the camera. I love how natural the pictures came out. Everyone's personality came through. Gretchen made sure she got all of the picture combinations we wanted. She was also great at selecting the location to take the pictures.
