Aubrey and Jimmy got married at one of my favorite places in Colorado, Cherokee Ranch and Castle. This is a real life castle on a hill Southwest of Denver with unparalleled panoramic views of the mountains. For Aubrey, who wanted to get married at Walt Disney World, this was a perfect place for their wedding. Their families are ranchers in the area, and the combination of a castle and a ranch right at home was a perfect fit for them.
We met at their engagement session at Roxborough State Park in the middle of winter and I was blown away by the love these two have for each other. I also knew that lifting Aubrey was one of Jimmy’s favorite things to do.
This was one of the most emotional weddings I’ve had the pleasure to photograph. Both Jimmy and Aubrey’s families have a strong matriarchy, and the generations of women were present and moved for the couple and their marriage throughout the day. Jimmy’s friends were overjoyed for him as well! Aubrey’s father dressed both as a knight before the wedding, and as Darth Vader for the wedding ceremony adding an air of fun to the day.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Gretchen Troop Photography. Gretchen and her videographer- Chris made the day a breeze with a fun and relaxed attitude. Except for the easy directions during family group photos we barley new they were there. The results are spectacular! Gretchen has the eye of a true artist. Gretchen did AMAZING job as our photographer! We are from Texas and had no idea what our elopement day would look like but she gave us the run-through a week before and we couldn't be happier with our wedding day. We spend a whole evening at Rocky Mountain NP and her knowledge around the park and as an experienced photographer made our wedding so much more meaningful. The moment I saw Gretchen's work, I knew she would be our photographer.. we waited until pretty close up to our (very small) wedding to decide to hire one, which added an additional layer of stress with everything coming up so quickly. We also live in Texas, our wedding was in Boulder, CO. Gretchen shot our wedding in May, and also did some engagement shots for us in the previous fall. Gretchen photographed our family during our family vacation in Fraser. She was very accommodating! Wow. Gretchen did an INCREDIBLE job photographing my huge extended family in Estes Park. We had 5 little ones, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and parents. Somehow she was able to take the most beautiful pictures with everyone looking at the camera. I love how natural the pictures came out. Everyone's personality came through. Gretchen made sure she got all of the picture combinations we wanted. She was also great at selecting the location to take the pictures.

We were hoping for Gretchen to go all out with candids. Our family was too ridiculous and poorly behaved for traditional composites. So Gretchen and her team rocked the characters and spontaneity.
Annual family photo shoot in Estes Park. Gretchen was part of the team that shot my wedding and she did a fabulous job with this shoot as well. I have 2 kids, 3 years old and 18 months, and she did a great job navigating their moods and keeping them engaged. I highly recommend her.
