Aspen Package
I took Lindsay & Heather’s engagement photos in Boulder on Flagstaff Mountain. Lindsay grew up in Estes Park and her choice of venue was the uniquely wild and lovely location of Wild Basin Lodge. Lindsay looked exquisite in her elegant dress (which I had fun taking photos of as well) “The Harper” by Madi Lane and Heather was sharp in her custom made suit by Bindle & Keep. After everyone got ready, we ‘did not do a First Look’ (I cheated and took a photo) so that we could knock out all of the posed photographs before the ceremony.
We walked around the property for a few minutes and then headed into Rocky Mountain National Park, Wild Basin to get some more couple photographs. It was HOT, especially for the mountains. We bounced our way (the road is pretty rough this year) in and out of the park in about 1/2 an hour, stopping at two different locations along the road. When we returned everyone was ready for the group photos down by the river where a cool breeze brought the temperature down.
Their ceremony site out at the Meadows had the altar draped with pink & purple pastel toned flowers accented by eucalyptus, created by Rocky Mountain Wildflowers. Their delightful ceremony demonstrated the support and love that these two give to others and their community… and receive in return. Their vows to each other, the wedding party, family and their officiant/friend all brought joy to my heart during the ceremony and the toasts. After the ceremony guests enjoyed custom cocktails along the deck with hummingbirds buzzing in and out singing their sugary song and the swollen river below. Guests also took photos at Wild Basin’s fun photo mirror and enjoyed a beautiful late Spring day before sitting down to a Wild Basin catered meal (the food here is really special!). The couple’s first dance was out on the deck over the river, and those photos are my favorites from the day. The guests all looked down from the deck above as they enjoyed their first moments as a married couple.
Then came the ice cream truck! Rather than have a traditional wedding cake Lindsay and Heather had an ice cream truck pull up to the front of the lodge. Happy Cones wasn’t just any ice cream though. The ice cream was traditional New Zealand ice cream and the owner had a journey with a tale that he brought along with the vibrantly colored truck. The ice cream was some of the best I’ve ever had.
Mike from “A DJ for Hire” had the dance floor cooking unto closing with a lively group of people keeping the dance pumping all night long, while most of the guests enjoyed the cool mountain evening on the porch by the river.

We were hoping for Gretchen to go all out with candids. Our family was too ridiculous and poorly behaved for traditional composites. So Gretchen and her team rocked the characters and spontaneity.

Gretchen photographed our family during our family vacation in Fraser. She was very accommodating! I love the documentary photos that she took of us gathered in our airbnb and the group photos we took down the street with a beautiful mountain backdrop!! We were a large group (15 including four very young children!) but she captured some precious moments! I am very grateful for her skills and her efficiency!
Gretchen shot our wedding in May, and also did some engagement shots for us in the previous fall. We were really happy with all the shots we got, and were proud to share images of the wedding with our friends and loved ones. It also helped that she was very familiar with all the venues around Boulder and was able to give us good advice on locations for photography.

Wow. Gretchen did an INCREDIBLE job photographing my huge extended family in Estes Park. We had 5 little ones, uncles, aunts, grandparents, and parents. Somehow she was able to take the most beautiful pictures with everyone looking at the camera. I love how natural the pictures came out. Everyone's personality came through. Gretchen made sure she got all of the picture combinations we wanted. She was also great at selecting the location to take the pictures.

Our family had a wonderful experience with Gretchen Troop Photography. Gretchen and her videographer- Chris made the day a breeze with a fun and relaxed attitude. Except for the easy directions during family group photos we barley new they were there. The results are spectacular! Gretchen has the eye of a true artist.
